Dear Cabrini Co-op Families,
Sorry for the late notice, but we’ve had a teacher drop out of our co-op very last minute. Our Montessori teacher has had obligations come up that she can’t avoid, and for the foreseeable future she’ll be unable to help us out on Fridays. She’s very regretful about it, and she’s hoping to yet meet with each family to see what educational materials would be of most help for your children.
I realize a few of you have joined us primarily for the services she was going to provide, and so if you want to withdraw your membership I completely understand.
Having been just informed this morning about this change, I’ve been spending time today thinking of what we can offer to make up for this loss.
The good news is, we still have the Montessori learning games, as well as a couple of parents/grandparents interested in learning how to implement them. Several of them are very simple to use!
SO
Short term plan: My mom, who is a former educator and specialized in helping kids with learning challenges, will be able to help you find an appropriate learning game for you and your child. I will have LOTS of learning games available for our children to use (like 4 large tables full of learning games): Reading games, money games, phonics games, science games, as well as the east-to-use Montessori manipulatives. Please bring your child’s math curriculum (if they were needing help with math) and we will help you find a game or manipulative to supplement their learning.
For those needing help with reading, we will help you select a phonics or reading comprehension game. I am looking into temporarily hiring a reading specialist who can sit down with each child and have them help us pinpoint any issues and remedies for learning challenges. In the meantime, however, you will have to sit with your child directly and assist them in their learning.
Long term plan: I’m working on it! Nothing at the moment, ha! as I’ve had about 10 hours to adjust to this difficult news. I’m 100% open to any help or ideas you might have. If anything, I hope to figure out how to use these more complicated Montessori tools so we can share them with our children.
I sincerely apologize for the last minute change, and I hope to see you all yet tomorrow.
Also!
Mass will be at 8:15 tomorrow!
No Adoration or Confessions due to a funeral at 11.
